Bodywork: An ancient healing modality for today’s stressful lifestyles

Bodywork is any kind of therapy that involves working with the soft tissues of the body to improve physical or emotional wellbeing. Massage is the most well-known type of bodywork.

Bodywork has been around for thousands of years – some of the earliest documented evidence shows that massage was practiced in India, China, Egypt, Japan and Greece as early as 3,000 BCE.

My integrative & intuitive approach provides the most effective release for your body.

Whether your goal is to relax & unwind or address specific sources of pain, I bring my intuitive process into the work to craft each massage session to suit your unique body’s needs.

Through subtle changes in your muscle tissue, breathing, joint mobility and other cues, I’ll listen to your body to find your perfect pressure ~ helping melt your knots and lines of tension.

When bodywork is done with intention, years of tension and stress can be released in a single session.

Relax. Recover. Rejuvenate.

Unprocessed emotions, fatigue and the daily stressors of modern life build up in the body over time, leading to chronic pain. Massage Therapy can be a vital part of a comprehensive approach to support your wellness journey including help with:

  • Stress and anxiety
  • Poor circulation
  • Muscle spasms
  • Chronic pain
  • Shoulder & neck tightness
  • Migraines
  • Limited joint mobility
  • Prenatal & postpartum issues

Each individual receives a fully customized and personal experience by incorporating multiple modalities into each session, as needed. Your session may include any of the modalities shown below. In the end, it all depends on you. All services will be specially arranged just for your unique needs and wants.

What to Expect

Location & Studio Space

The studio is located at 2212 Sedgewick Lane, Round Rock TX 78664.

My desire is to welcome you into a curated space that is warm, inviting and comfortable, so I intentionally located my studio within my own private home. This separate and private space allows for:

  • A safe space for you to be yourself
  • Privacy and freedom to attend to anything that comes up during our sessions
  • Full control of our time and environment – sounds, temperature etc

As you enter, you will immediately notice a diverse collection of art, intentionally chosen to create a secular spiritual space that appreciates all perspectives and is anchored in compassion and equality for all.

Before Your Massage

FORMS: Once you book an appointment, you will receive an email with links to fill out intake forms. Filling out these forms thoroughly will guide us to choose the best care for your session.

CONSULT: Please arrive 15 minutes early. This allows us time to sit and discuss your intake forms and create a plan for the session that meets your needs and goals, I will also check in on your preferences for what sort of pressure you like for massage.

During the Massage

This is your time – so please utilize it as you see fit.

Chatting: If you find it relaxing to have some light conversation, I am open to it. However, realize I will not be as zeroed in on the work I am doing because my attention will be split.

Questions: You are always free to ask questions or ask for any accommodations for comfort to be adjusted, music volume, warmth or cooling.

Sleep: You may also sleep if this feels appropriate. Snoring is a compliment in massage therapy.

A note on pain: Massage should never be painful. You should always be able to remain relaxed on the table, even if we are doing deep work, and the intensity of the pressure should never be outside your window of comfort. This is NOT a no-pain, no-gain zone. The only reason you feel relief after a painful massage is because your body has released endorphins to counteract the discomfort. We don’t want that, since endorphins block the perception of pain.

On a scale of 1-10, your discomfort should never be above a 7. If you feel the need to “grit your teeth and bear it,” or if you have to really breathe through it to feel ok, it’s too much.  At this point, we are working against each other and bruising you. Always feel free to direct the pressure with numbers. If you prefer a 4 and the therapist is at a 7, let them know.

What You Will Wear

During the massage, it’s best to remove all clothing, including underwear, so that all areas of the body can be accessed such as the Gluteal muscles and hips. However, if you feel more comfortable with underwear on, I will work over the sheet on these areas.

You will lay on the massage table under a sheet and blanket, and only the area I am working on will be uncovered. If there is any area you prefer we not work on, please let me know. I am committed to your comfort, and my professional training and licensure through the Texas State Health Board means that I use the utmost decorum to ensure that nothing in the session is ever intended to be perceived as sexual in nature.

Customization

You will experience a customized massage service. The session is curated in real time utilizing the most effective modalities and tools the therapist has on hand to treat and serve your highest good.

Some of these therapeutic techniques may leave marks on the body such as Gua Sha, an ancient Chinese scraping technique where a smooth thin tool is used to break up stubborn knots. In cupping, a suction cup is placed on an area of tension and left to pull at the tissue or it may be moved around with a lubricant to create flexibility and increased circulation in the area. These marks are not painful and will fade in 2-10 days. This is done on a case-by-case basis and does not always leave marks but your consent and comfort are of utmost importance.

Please inform the therapist if you are not open to receiving this kind of treatment during your session.

Add-On treatments

At the end of the booking process, you will be given the option to add on various services including:

Reiki (This service begins after the massage session is completed, while you are still on the massage table. More here)

Pregnancy Massage: Special positioning and expertise will be used for the comfort and safety of the individual receiving this kind of massage.

Hot Stones Therapy: Basalt stones will be kept in a hot water bath throughout the session. The stones will be applied with slow gliding strokes on every area of the body being massaged, with hands as well. This service aids in deeper relaxation as well as a softening of surface tension to allow the therapist to go deeper with less pressure.

Bundled Services

If you want a richer and integrated healing experience, you might consider booking one of our special packages that bundle massage with Reiki and spiritual coaching. Scroll through the wellness and coaching categories to see the many options.

After the Massage

After the session is finished, please take your time and move slowly as you get up and dress. I encourage you to allow an extra 15 minutes at the end of the session to feel the full effects. It’s important you carry the relaxed state of your massage into your everyday life to have a longer lasting result from the therapy. We may also discuss plans for future treatments and suggestions to help maintain and further improve the results from the therapist may be given at this time.

After a massage it is recommended that you drink plenty of water to move toxins released from muscle tissues during the massage, which will help with next day soreness. Drinking alcohol after a massage is not recommended because the toxins and increased circulation of blood can intensify the effects of alcohol. If you plan to do anything strenuous, like working out, you will need to be mindful of the more relaxed muscle tissue to not injure yourself.
